My cousin, Craig Torrence died December 28, 2004. Mom and I met up in Washington, DC to attend his Services at Arlington Memorial Cemetary. His father, Bill Torrence's Service was also held here last November.
Mom didn't have a very good day on the 24th. She couldn't find a parking spot at the Syracuse Airport and missed her flight on US Airways. They put her on a flight through Laguardia a little later. That flight was delayed long enough so that she missed the connection to Washington National. Instead of arriving at 8am, she got in at around noon.
Then Washington was covered in snow and the museum she was going to visit with Claudia was closed. So she had lunch with Claudia and hung around the hotel.
Speaking of which, I have now learned the meaning of a 'two-bed-room' hotel booking. For some strange reason, I had assumed it meant two bedrooms. Silly me. Of course, it really means two beds in one room. Luckily Mom was able to sleep through the cacophony that I never hear, but Daisy swears happens on a daily basis.
My Aunt Mary announced today that she wished her name was Veronica Mary O'Hara Torrence instead of Mary Veronica. So, many of us called her Veronica all day, much to her delight!
